Be careful of what to preview

Rouge Anti-Virus software is getting smarter everyday.

Remember don’t click on email if it does not look ligitimate. Just viewing it will allow the software to be installed on your computer. Using the preview tab in Outlook is also considered as opening your email and can allow the spammers and bad guys access to your computer.

We have been seeing a higher volume of this type of infection as it makes it easier to get this malware installed on the host computer.

MacBook RAM Upgrade

Just finished updating some RAM for a client on their MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008). Being an almost 2 year old computer it is still pretty quick. I am sure this extra RAM will get them a good 2 more years out of it. Plus the RAM was fairly cheap to purchase so that was good $100 purchase for them.

Microsoft Patch Tuesday

Microsoft sent out one of their largest amount of patches yesterday, fixing a total of 49 bugs in products such as Windows, Internet Explorer and Office.

There are 16 groups of patches (called updates) in total. Microsoft says that two of them — the Internet Explorer fix numbered MS10-071 and a Windows patch numbered MS10-076 — should get top priority. Microsoft thinks attack code is likely to be developed that will target bugs fixed by both of those updates.

New Site Design

So we just finished a Non Profit site design this week for our local Dog Rescue, OC Poundhounds. Our friends at ocpoundhounds.com do great work in saving small dogs from high kill shelters and find homes for them. We were contracted to install a vBulletin test site for a client so they can test new themes & modifications before they made them live. vBulletin is a great forum software.

New Client Site

I started working on a new clients site yesterday. Need to work on the design a bit more but they seem happy with it so far. The site is powered by WordPress & a few nice plugins, wanted it easy for the to update the site. They also wanted a clean easy design.

Windows 7 Cracked

Microsoft has released Windows 7 to manufactures last week and already it has been cracked. The hackers obtained a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate OEM version from Lenovo and they were able to extract the system-locked pre-installation product key and the OEM certificate. This is not the first time this has happened. When Vista came out a Dell version was cracked.
